The charcoal of a sailor dead aboard the USS Oklahoma during the advance on Pearl Harbor about 76 years ago will be alternate to Port Huron for burying on his family's artifice in Lakeside Cemetery.
The charcoal of Machinist Mate First Class Fred M. Jones were afresh articular by the Navy, according to a annual from Karrer-Simpson Burial Home.
"The escorted casket will access via Detroit Metropolitan Airport and graveside aggressive ceremoniousness will be conducted beneath the advocacy of the U.S. Navy at 1 p.m. May 20, 2017, at Lakeside Cemetery, 3663 — 10th Ave., Port Huron," according to the burial home.
Jones was awarded the Purple Heart, World War II Victory Medal, American Defense Service Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal with one assurance star, according to the Navy.

Jones enlisted in the Navy April 1, 1929.
Jones was followed in afterlife by his wife, Helen Jones Lamb, father, Felix Jones of North Lake; a son, Jon Jones; a brother, Norman Jones; and a sister, Neta Jones Thompson Amis, according to his obituary. He is survived by a daughter, Leilani Ronningen, a granddaughter, Helen Kellie Cosner, two great-grandchildren, Danielle Lee Tyler and Chrystal Leanne Sperry, and abundant abundant grandson Taylor and abundant granddaughter Leanna Sperry, all of Seattle, Washington; and a grandniece, Sue Nichols of Burton, Michigan.
